MEMORIAL OF ST AGATHA

Do you ever have time to rest? Many of us work night and day and never have time for ourselves. We may think that the more we work, the more money we make. This may be true in some cases, but not in all cases.
1da Banton in his album *No Wahala,* sang that Wahala no dey finish, make you try de enjoy. Part of enjoying is to find time and rest from work.
The Apostles of Jesus in the gospel reading of today had worked so hard and were very tired, yet they did not have time to rest, even to eat. Jesus called them aside and told them to look for a lonely place to rest. It is very important that we find time and rest for work and get refreshed. Vacation and holiday, retreat and similar meaningful absence from work and stress is very important. Wahala no dey finish, as one wahala ends, another comes up.
We need wisdom to know when to take a break and relax. We may think that we will lose much, but we actually gain much more. Many people may think that Solomon lost a lot to have asked for wisdom in the first reading of today instead of other things, but he gained much more than we can imagine.
St Agatha whom we celebrate today, made a good decision to keep her virginity even in threat of martyrdom. Today we venerate her and ask for her prayers in our own journey.
Lord, grant us the wisdom to always choose rightly. Amen.
