Safeguarding

In line with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland, the Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency (CSSA), the Scottish Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency (SCSSA), and the Religious Life Safeguarding Service (RLSS), the Missionary Society of St Paul (MSP), UK Region, affirms its commitment to safeguarding as an integral part of the life and ministry of the Church. We recognise that the welfare, safety, and dignity of children, young people, and adults at Risk are paramount, and that they have the right to equal protection from all forms of harm or abuse. This action plan sets out our strategic priorities, concrete actions, and accountability measures to ensure full compliance with UK safeguarding legislation, the standards of the CSSA, SCSSA, and RLSS, and the pastoral mission of the Missionary Society of St Paul, while also providing a coherent framework for strengthening safeguarding across the MSP UK Region. Its implementation ensures safer environments, improved accountability, and consistent compliance with statutory requirements and Church safeguarding norms, enabling MSP UK to continue its mission with integrity, compassion, and transparency through investment in training, governance, survivor support, and partnership.

The Safeguarding Team aims to support and assist all members of our community with any safeguarding concerns and is committed to protecting children, young people, and vulnerable adults at risk. As Catholics, we affirm that “every human being has a value and dignity which we recognise as coming from God’s creation in His own image and likeness.” This value is a gift given to us by God and we aim to protect it.
