GOD IS EVERYWHERE
After dedicating the temple and moving the Ark of the Covenant into it as we see in the first reading of yesterday, Solomon appears before God today to pray that God should listen to the prayers of all those who come to pray there.
Solomon is conscious that God is everywhere, but very much present in his church. The first and immediate place we experience God is in the depth of our hearts. In our hearts we nurture the values and virtues we hold.
In the gospel reading, we see Jesus wonder if the scribes and pharisees had encountered God. This was because they seemed not to have Aby human sympathy or understanding. Jesus defends the fact that human beings should not be treated as if they are made for laws. When making laws, we should always put the good of the human person at the fore front. Every human person, regardless of their mental and physical abilities, are to be treated like the image and likeness of God. Some people abandon their parents at their old age and do not care about them. Jesus asks that we should always remember and support our parents and those in their old age. They may be too old to appreciate you, but they deserve to be treated well. Only those who have a relationship with God are conscious of this.
