MONDAY 7TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II

ONLY THOSE WHO BELIEVE PRAY WELL

Many of us Christians have a very shallow faith, and do not believe what we pray for.  To pray is one thing, but to pray with your whole heart, believing that your prayers will be answered is another thing.

In the gospel reading of today, Jesus shows us the difference between the two.  He tells us that everything is possible for those who believe. To believe in God is a call to a deeper life with God and readiness to do his will. One of the things that hinder our prayers is lack of faith. Many of us doubt ourselves and the power of prayers in our lives, this is why many people today do not pray. Some who pray only treat it as a ceremonial event.

Prayer is a connection and conversation with the divine. If we are not truly connected with God in mind and heart, our prayers may seem a joke. We see in the gospel reading that as soon as Jesus spoke, the demon left the demoniac. This shows that Jesus and his father are truly connected. We as Christians can also do sane if we are connected with God faithfully. Lord increase our faith in you and help us to be truly connected to you in mind and heart. Amen.
