Act 14:19-28/ Ps 145:10-11. 12-13ab. 21/ Jn 14:27-31a
While today’s gospel talks about the peace that Jesus has given his disciples, the first reading shows this peace and love active in the life of St. Paul and his companion as they gave testimonies to God’s work in their lives. In the course of their missionary journey, in the midst of persecutions, they had witnessed to the gospel in deep and personal ways, healed the sick, made many disciples, created communities and strengthened them. After all these they returned to the community in Antioch that had commissioned them to give report and testimonies of the wonders of God in their life and ministry. We also must occasionally find time to identify the wonders of God in our lives and testify to them. We have to learn to count and acknowledge our blessings and God’s faithfulness to us, and testify to them. Our testimonies could then become the beginning of another person’s faith story.
Prayer: O God, you have been faithful to us, and blessed us with good gifts; we testify to all you have done for us. May our testimonies be a true statement of faith that will enkindle faith and love of you in our neighbours. Amen.
