Old things often give way to new things. In the same way, good things give way to better things. Both the first reading and the gospel attest to this reality. What Jesus has to offer is far better than what anybody can give. He always has the better version. He is the fulfilment of God’s promises in ages past. Let us ask him to make us the better version of ourselves.
