Reaping what you sow

The law of nature is that you always get back what you sow. Thus, in the first reading of today, St. Paul reminds us that thin sowing will always result in thin reaping, while he who sows more will reap more. The reality is that, almost everyone has the desire for more. However, to do this, we must be disciplined enough to make certain forms of sacrifices and deny ourselves some momentary benefits for the sake of the future. Many of the great personalities including St. Lawrence whose memorial we celebrate today paid a price for which they are now being celebrated. As Jesus said in the Gospel, unless a grain falls to the ground and dies, it will not yield a rich harvest; if we truly want to reap the harvest of eternal life, then, we must be ready to give up something of ourselves.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, grant me the grace to spend more time, sowing the seed of faith and of good works. Amen
