Do not forget where you are going

As Christians, we are pilgrims on the way to heaven. The road is sometimes rough, with many distractions, and pitfalls. Hence, to get to our destination safely, we must adhere to the road map that God has provided us through our faith. In today’s first reading, Moses warned the Israelites never to forget the guiding principles of the Lord. He told them to observe the Ten Commandments and other precepts which the Lord had given them. They were to worship and follow the Lord all the days of their lives. However, many of the Israelites were not faithful to this Mosaic injunction and did not reach the promise land. Through the merit of Christ, the sacraments and the various teaching organs of the Church, God has provided us with all the graces we would need in order to arrive safely at our heavenly destination. So, let us constantly remember to make use of these privileges in order to reach our heavenly inheritance.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me with your grace to always be on the watch out, lest I fall prey to the distractions of my foes. Amen
