One could be easily deceived by what the gospel of today terms “after a long time”. Yes, the master of those servants who were allotted different talents returned only after a long time. Is this good news or bad news? For the lazy, the good-for-nothing servants, it seems like good news; they can do what they like before the master’s return. But soon the “good news” turns sour and they have to account for the time wasted. Deep within, each of us can guess right to some extent whether we are those faithful servants or the good-for-nothing servants, afraid of the master.

PRAYER: Lord, let me not see your delay as an excuse for more infidelity. Amen
