Yeast or leaven has the potency of swelling. Its rising effect is so powerful that just a little quantity of it mixed with flour can make dough rise in few minutes beyond what it ordinarily looks. The effect of leaven no matter how small spreads so fast. Jesus compared the kingdom of God to this gradual rising of the dough until it is leavened all through. This rising of the dough depicts the growth of the Christian faith in the world and how individually our faith in God gradually grows. We may have been struggling in our faith journey through experiences that may have dampened our spirit. We see ourselves going back and forth that we almost became discouraged. But Jesus is encouraging us today through this parable to understand that faith in him is built gradually until we attain maturity in him. We should never relent in deepening our faith in God through prayer and good works.
