In the first reading, St Paul was elated and proud of the work he did among the Gentiles. He saw himself as a vessel and channel of grace used by God to bring conversion among them. He worked with all his gifts, talents and resources to communicate and preach the gospel of Christ. We see the same thing in the life of Pope St Leo the Great. Leo was elected Pope in 440 and shepherded the Church during the most difficult times. He was a true father to his flock. During his tenure as Pope, he reformed the Church’s discipline and emphasized the primacy of Rome. Pope Leo the Great looked upon his office as that of Christ himself and he strove to become “all things to all.” His beautiful and profound homilies gave Christians courage and strength in living their faith. He used his gifts, talents and resources to preach the gospel and to impact lives. We too can be like St Paul and Pope Leo the Great in using our gifts, resources and talents to win souls for Christ.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me to learn how to use my gifts, talents and resources to win souls for you. Amen
