Mama elephants and all mothers will protect their babies with their lives. What about God and his children? Remember his words: even if a mother forgets her child, I will never forget you. God made us for himself. This should be comforting and reassuring. It should endear God to us, like a baby and the mother. But no. We constantly struggle to stay close to God. Some even deny that he exists. Some say he exists, but that he does not care. The rest of us sort of hang around – at arm’s length, as though afraid of his loving embrace. Yet, we came from him, and are returning to him. The Devil is a liar. As we await the birthday of Christ his Son, let us pray with the psalmist:
Prayer: Lord, make us turn to you; let us see your face and we shall be saved. Then we will no more withdraw from you. Give us new life in this season of grace. Amen.
