The induction of Fr. Francis Agada, MSP as the Parish Priest Holy Family Catholic Church Chaddock Lane Worsley, Boothstown

In a ceremony marked by reverence, joy, and a deep sense of spiritual unity, Fr. Francis Agada, MSP was formally inducted as the Parish Priest of Holy Family Catholic Church, Chaddock Lane, Boothstown. The induction was presided over by the Most Reverend Malcolm McMahon, OP, Archbishop of Liverpool, on a day that will be warmly remembered by parishioners and guests alike.

The Mass of Induction, held in the heart of the parish, was a vibrant celebration of faith, community, and continuity. Parishioners, clergy, family, friends, and representatives of the Missionary Society of St. Paul (MSP) gathered in a spirit of thanksgiving to witness this significant milestone in the life of both Fr. Francis and the parish community.

During his homily, Archbishop McMahon reflected on the sacred responsibility of priestly ministry and the role of a parish priest as a shepherd, teacher, and servant of the people of God. He spoke warmly of Fr. Francis’s commitment to missionary service and pastoral care, highlighting the rich contribution of the Missionary Society of St. Paul to the Archdiocese and to the universal Church.

Fr. Francis Agada, originally from Nigeria and a dedicated member of the MSP, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God, to the Archbishop, and to the Holy Family parish community. “I come not as a stranger but as a fellow pilgrim,” he said. “Together, we will walk the path of faith, hope, and love, guided by Christ who is our head.”

The Rite of Induction included the formal presentation of the keys to the church, the blessing of the parish registers, and a symbolic tour of the sanctuary, sacristy, and other key parts of the church building – all rich signs of Fr. Francis’s new pastoral responsibility.

After the Mass, a joyful reception was held in the parish hall, where parishioners shared in food, music, and heartfelt welcomes. There was a warm sense of unity as old friends and new faces came together to support their new parish priest.
