SATURDAY SEVENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II

THE PRAYER OF THOSE WHO ARE RIGHTEOUS

Many people always believe that children are innocent, and thus holy. Many people call on children to pray for them, believing that God answers the prayers of children

In the first reading of today, St James tells us that the prayers of those who are righteous find their way up to God. Elijah, according to him, was a righteous and holy man who prayed for it not to rain, and God heard him. He therefore advises that we try to live a holy life so that God will listen to us whenever we call upon him. He asks that those who are sick should be brought to the priests to pray for them so that they can recover.

In the gospel reading, we see Jesus asking that the little children should be brought to him. This is because children are innocent, holy, have no time for enmity, deped on divine providence and are spotless. Jesus says that it is those whose heart are like that of children who will enter the kingdom of heaven. Let us live holy and righteous lives, and our prayers will ascend to God in heaven.
