ABRAHAM: OUR FATHER IN FAITH*
Abraham has stood out in history as a pillar of faith for the major religions of the world. Judaism, Christianity and Islam regard Abraham as the foundation of faith and relationship with God.
In the first reading of today ,we see another covenant God made with Abraham to make jom a nation.
In the gospel reading, we see clearly that the Jews who are the descendants of Abraham, did not believe in Jesus and did not take him serious. They turned a serious statement by Jesus into a joke. Jesus was serious when he said that anyone who believes in him and obey his word will never die, he was serious when he said that he had been in existence before Abraham was created.
Abraham in the first reading didn't know where he was going and how he will get there, but because he trusted God and did not take God's words to be a joke, God favoured him, changed his name and made him our father in the faith. We too can entrust all of ourselves to God, and he will make us great like Abraham.
