EASTER SUNDAY The resurrection of Christ: Our hope for a better tomorrow

Today is a glorious day of joy when we celebrate the great mystery of our faith, the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today is Easter Sunday, which confirms God’s faithfulness with the resurrection of Christ from the dead. The Psalmist acclaims: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice in it and be glad”, for death has been conquered, and we are the new easter people. So, Jesus’ resurrection means victory over death, evil, sin and the devil. The easter celebration conveys our joy in the renewal of faith and hope, that we can truly overcome the powers of human wickedness, sinfulness, and death. As with Jesus, who rose after his suffering and death, we also shall rise again from whatever conditions or unpleasant experiences we might be going through. Our faith in God is renewed that there would be a better tomorrow with God on our side. And as the empty tomb represents Jesus’ liberation from the dead and his presence in the world, so would we be liberated from our different tombs of depression, hopelessness, and death and be restored to a new life of glory in Christ Jesus. Like Peter, let us set out to proclaim the good news of God’s action of grace to the world.

Prayer: Lord, increase my faith in your resurrection to firmly believe in the assurance of a better tomorrow by your grace. Amen.
