APRIL 13 EASTER THURSDAY

The resurrection event remained unimaginable to both the Jews and the disciples alike. Jesus’ appearance proved all that he had told them before his crucifixion and death. The disciples were left in great anxiety; hence, Christ, aware of the state of their hearts, offered them his greeting of peace. Two things remain remarkable; they are to open their minds to the scriptures and preach repentance and forgiveness, beginning from Jerusalem. Christ still insists that we should make our repentance from Jerusalem in our daily lives. Jerusalem, in this sense, is not a location but that dark part of our lives that tries to kill the evidence of the resurrection. Our Jerusalem could be in our families, occupations, marital challenges, academic worries, poverty, or insecurity, through which we deviate from the gospel joy of Easter. Christ wants us to remain firm in our daily struggles and experience our own resurrection by conquering these threats that make us afraid. We can do this by allowing him to open our minds to understand the scriptures once again.

PRAYER: O Lord, make us docile to the working of your Holy Spirit, strengthen our faith in you and make us overcomers like you. Amen
