Due to the anguish of persecutions, terror attacks, pandemics, poverty, governmental legislations and much more, many in different parts of the world cannot freely gather in Churches to worship God, and must live with this sad reality. The early Christians equally faced similar challenging situations. Today, we are exhorted to show courage and perseverance like Philip, who went to proclaim the risen Christ in the city of Samaria. His bold and courageous preaching there brought much joy to the people of the town. The troubles in Jerusalem became the gains in Samaria. Amidst the many life-challenging experiences, Jesus invites us to himself always. He is always present in the Eucharist, willing to save us from all harm and preserve us until the last day. Let us, therefore, recognize that we will always face different kinds of persecutions; however, the words of the scriptures, "blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven", should be our consolation.
PRAYER: Dear Lord Jesus, grant us your courage to face life's challenges and trials with you; that we may merit eternal life, Amen.
