Acts 17:15. 22-18:1/ Ps 148:1-2. 11-12. 13. 14/ Jn 16:12-15
Though St. Paul’s outing at Athens is popular, it is easily misconstrued as a failure by many. This is because after he mentioned the resurrection from dead in his speech, some mocked and dismissed him, while others walked away. Yet, there were some who joined him and became believers. This shows that no effort at evangelization is ever a waste. Those who belonged to Jesus, were not lost that day, because Paul did his part. The words of Paul were not wasted because whenever the Spirit of truth is exposed, those who belong to God are guided and led to the truth; for it is in this same spirit that we live, move and have our being. As we prepare to celebrate the Ascension of the Lord tomorrow, let us keep in mind that Christ is not far from us and every effort we make at witnessing is never a waste; it surely does bear fruit.
Prayer: Lord God, when it seems to us that no one is paying attention, remind us that no word of yours goes forth without accomplishing what it has been sent to do, so that, we may have the courage to witness more. Amen
