Today’s gospel is about the healing of Bartimaeus’ blindness. He was determined to encounter Jesus. Though many factors tried to prevent and distract him from his goal, he remained courageous and persistent. When he eventually met Jesus, he followed him all the way. St Justin whom we celebrate today was also blind to the light of Christ. He made genuine efforts to encounter God by human knowledge. His witnessing of fearless Christian martyrs made deep impression on him. Once he found Christ, he defended Christ and the Church all the way; to the point of being martyred. A personal experience of Christ solidifies one’s faith. It is the conviction we need to be authentic disciples of Christ.
Prayer: Lord, I desire to have a personal experience of you that would cast away all doubts and open my eyes to the mystery of the kingdom. Amen
