Jesus cursed the fig tree in the gospel because it had leaves but no fruit even though it was not the season for it to bear fruit. God expects us to be fruitful in every circumstance we find ourselves. He constantly expects from us fruits of love, not mere comforting rituals. Saints Marcellinus and Peter found themselves in prison as a result of their faith. While in prison, they continued to bear fruit; converting both prisoners and the jailer’s household. They were both beheaded during Emperor Diocletians’s persecution around 304 A.D. We are encouraged to also bear fruit wherever we find ourselves.

Prayer: Lord, help me to recognize every situation I find myself as an avenue to touch and win souls for the kingdom. Amen
