Saints are celebrated on the day they returned to heaven with the exemption of Mary the Mother of Jesus Christ and John the Baptist whose birthdays are also celebrated. According to Jesus, John is the greatest of anyone born of a woman. John the Baptist played his role perfectly. He was chosen by God before he was born to play a significant role in the salvation of mankind (cf. Jer1:4-5). Interestingly, people wanted to change John’s identity and mission. They wanted him to follow in the footsteps of his father, Zechariah. There are many young people who are doing what does not give them happiness. They have been frustrated by the choice of career or vocation. Few break out of such bondage to do what gives them joy. Some parents impose career/vocation on their children. They desire that their children should grow and replace them. Such parents should learn from the parents of John the Baptist to allow the will of God to reign. Children and wards should be guided to pursue careers/vocations that they would excel in.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, keep me faithful to the path you have chosen for me. Amen
