Do not be a complain monger

The human nature seems insatiable. In the first reading of today, though the Israelites had manna to eat, they grew ungrateful and wished for the onions, melon and cucumbers of the Egyptians. The problem was not that the manna was not enough to feed them, rather, they lost interest in what they had, and began to crave for what they did not have. This attitude of the Israelites is not different from the behaviour of many of us. When we pray and God answers our prayer, within a short time, we begin to desire the alternatives which God would have given us. A student prays for examination success, and when he passes with credits, he begins to wish he had distinctions instead. Let us endeavour not to be complain mongers, but accept and appreciate whatever we have, discipline our desires, gauge our cravings, and in all circumstances learn to give thanks to God.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me to be contented with the blessings you have surrounded my life with. Amen
