There is so much deception done under the cover of religion. Experience has shown that most of the worst crimes are being committed under the aegis of religion by seemingly religious men and women. In the Gospel of today, Jesus warns against hypocrisy and religious deception. Religious deception presents the deceiver as a harmless child of God, and so makes the targets unsuspicious. Unfortunately, many Christians today, put up a show of genuine piety, claiming to be what they are not, and saying things which they do not mean from their hearts. Often times these kinds of people pray the loudest in church, maintain religious decorum, and speak nice words, but they are only acting. Thus, they keep sinking into the dungeon of iniquity and dragging others with them. May we sincerely live well so that God will not count us among the hypocrites on the last day.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, send your Holy Spirit on us so that we may be sincere and truthful in our religious practices. Amen
