“Consider how you have fared”, says the Lord, “you eat but you never have enough.” Why? Because you have not given God a place in your heart. Is this not the tragedy that befalls those who set up for themselves worldly structures rather than build for the Lord, those who live for worldly pleasures rather than live for Christ? They never feel true satisfaction. We all have experienced both worlds; we know the distinction between the pleasures in mundane things and the true joy of the spirit. The people in the first reading thought it was not yet time to build for the Lord, to give God a place in their hearts. And the result? They drank without being filled; they sowed much and harvested little. What about us? The message is clear. Learn from the mistakes of your ancestors in the faith; return to the Lord and make for him a place in your heart.
PRAYER: Come into my heart Lord Jesus. Be the satisfaction of my heart, the joy of my life. Amen.
