The archangels of God are traditionally named as Michael, who protects the people of God, Gabriel who brings glad tidings and Raphael, who is the healing of God. These angels are spirits. They are given the name angels only when they are assigned a certain function or ministry to perform. Archangels are those who carry out major functions while those who perform minor ministries are called Angels. The angels and archangels are a proof that God watches over us with love beyond all telling. God’s providence over his creatures often becomes communicated through the ministry of these divine beings.
