“An unanswered prayer is a prayer answered.” When we do not receive the answer we desire in our petitions, it simply means God has answered us in his own way. His silence to our desired answer implies that what we asked for is not good or necessary perhaps at that particular time. Why this man in the parable got up to give his friend the bread which he asked for, was not because his friend persisted; but because what his friend asked for at that time was very necessary and good. Our persistence in prayer cannot force something out of God’s hand; because our persistence does not translate to God’s insistence. So when we ask, seek, and knock, we should all the more trust in the discretion of God to answer. Why most Christians are sad today is because they believe in the false spirituality of receiving whatever they ask from God. If we don’t trust in God’s volition, then we never even believed in God in the first place.
Prayer: Lord God, help us to believe and trust that you know how best to take care of us. Amen.
