Most of us are concerned why we cannot overcome a particular sin that has become habitual. Habitual sins can be torment inflicting and so discouraging to fight especially when we summon courage to confess them and in a short while see ourselves falling again. It is as though the urge to commit such sins again becomes stronger in us from the day we make an honest decision to confess and repent of them. Jesus warns us that when an evil spirit leaves someone and finds no place to rest, it returns back seven times stronger than before and may end up leaving that person in a worse condition. No one fights sin or the Devil and does not get a serious counter-attack. Jesus got his own dose in the slander of the Pharisees. We need not be discouraged in fighting habitual sin but should rather create more time for Godly things; because what we fill our minds with, plays out in our actions. We should also pray and bend our will to the ways of God by avoiding occasions of sin. This is how to keep our house clean and guarded.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, grant us the grace to keep our house guarded by being vigilant both in prayer and in action. Amen.
