In today’s first reading, St Paul reminds us that God gives without looking back. He also points out that the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable. In the gospel, Jesus invites us to give without expecting reward. Sometimes, when we do good, we expect reward in return. There are times too that we give because we are expecting favours from people and when they do not reciprocate our kind gesture, we become dispirited, angry and sad. Jesus teaches us that real and sincere giving is the one without any selfish motive attached. It is said that “if a man gives to gain reward, he will receive no reward; but if a man gives with no thought of reward, his reward is certain.”
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, give me the grace of giving sincerely without looking back or seeking reward in return. Amen
