If you fail to plan, you plan to fail

The author of the book of Wisdom, in the first reading, invites us to derive nothing else but wisdom. Those who love and yearn for her, easily finds her. In the gospel, Jesus invites us to choose wisdom in place of foolishness. He calls us to be wise as the wise virgins; vigilant, prepared and waiting for the bridegroom to come. The wise virgins went with their lamps and flask of oil to meet the bridegroom. They were prepared for eventualities and when the bridegroom appeared, they were on hand to meet and welcome him. The parable of the ten virgins was intentional and educational. Intentional, because it was directed to the Jews, the chosen people of God. Their entire history was to be a preparation for the coming of the Messiah. Their entire life revolved around waiting in expectation of the Messiah. When he finally came, they were not ready. Educational, because it highlights the importance of early preparation in doing things and achieving success. “There are certain things which cannot be obtained at the last minute.” When we fail to plan, ultimately, we plan to fail.  Success requires planning which involves a lot, and making of sacrifices. Let us learn to treat godly things especially preparation before Mass and the sacraments serious.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me not to take your grace for granted especially in things that relate to God. Amen
