Causing others to sin

In today’s gospel, Jesus warns us to be careful not to cause others, especially the little ones, to sin. Children are very precious in the eyes of God. No wonder, while Jesus’ disciples drove them away in Mt 19:13-15, Jesus insisted on blessing them because they are the face and reflection of the kingdom of God. Their innocence is unparalleled coupled with their childlike trust and dependency on their parents. Jesus warns us not to lead them to sin because of their innocence. Unfortunately, some of them have been exposed to sin by some unruly and immoral adults. Some children are even allowed or forced to watch pornographic materials and to do things beyond their age. This is wrong and completely unacceptable. Others have been abused by their so-called uncles, aunties, and care-givers and in turn, they have become abusers themselves. These experiences traumatize them for life. The first reading advises us to love righteousness and not allow perverse thoughts separate us from God. Let us never imagine leading others to sin especially the little ones.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, do not allow me cause others to sin especially little ones who trust me with their lives. Amen
