The author of Wisdom reveals to us that death was not God’s plan for us. In fact, God made us for incorruption and in the image of his own eternity. Death entered the world through the devil’s envy. When God created Adam and Eve, they enjoyed the gift of immortality – not to die. But when they disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit as a result of pride, they lost that precious gift of immortality and received the vice of mortality. Since then, death has entered human existence. Despite this reality, the souls of the righteous are in the hands of God, and no torment will ever touch them. For those who live good, holy and saintly lives, whenever they die, they are in the safe hands of God. Death for them becomes a transition into a better phase of life rather than annihilation or an abrupt end. Therefore, let us learn to live righteous and godly lives so that we will be at peace with God, even at death, in his bosom, a place of rest, comfort and refreshment.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, give me the grace to be able to live a saintly and holy life pleasing to you. Amen
