To have Jesus is to have wisdom and everything

Today’s first reading enumerates the beautiful qualities of Wisdom; the reflection of eternal light, a spotless mirror of the working of God and an image of his goodness. These wonderful qualities refer to Jesus Christ Himself. In fact, St Paul tells us that Jesus is both the power of God and the wisdom of God (I Cor 1:24). Jesus possesses everything; to have him is to have everything. However, in the gospel, the Pharisees asked Jesus when the kingdom of God was coming. And he told them that “the Kingdom of God was not coming with signs to be observed… for behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.” Jesus is the Kingdom of God present in our midst. Unfortunately, like the Pharisees, we fail to recognize his presence in our midst. To know and to have Jesus, is to have wisdom, and to have wisdom is to have everything. Hence, let us go for things that really matter. And that which matter is to know and to have Jesus Christ.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me to go for the things that really matter. Help me yearn for you always. Amen
