The first reading unravels the qualities of a perfect housewife who is a virtuous woman. It says that charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Women are very powerful.  In the second creation account, after God created Adam, he was alone. There was no suitable companion fit for him until God created Eve from his rib. And Adam exclaimed “This one at last is the bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh! She is to be called woman, because she was taken from man." Therefore, woman was made to be, not just a helper or companion to man, but a suitable one for that matter. Consequently, man was helpless, that was the reason God made woman, his helper to complement him. A woman carries a special blessing. And so, women should be treated as such. He who finds a good wife, according to the book of Proverbs, has found a great blessing, and obtains favours from the Lord. Therefore, I implore husbands to treat their wives with love, respect and dignity and they will enjoy God’s blessings.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me to understand the grace and blessings you bestowed on women, and to treat them with love, respect and dignity.
