FRIDAY SECOND WEEK OF EASTER (FEAST OF ST ANSELM) Bearing witness to the truth

Having experienced Christ and the power of his resurrection, the apostles went everywhere preaching the gospel. Their conviction to the truth in Jesus Christ made them stand before the Jews to preach the risen Christ. The Pharisees, threatened by the apostles' teachings, sought to stop them, but Gamaliel said, "if this ministry is from God, you would not be able to stop them." So, the apostles bore witness with joy and fulfilment despite the persecutions they were facing. What distinguishes us from others should be our readiness to bear witness to the truth. How prepared are we to endure humiliation for Christ's sake? Today, Jesus' feeding the crowd portrays him as the truth, the one who died for us and cares for us. Like St. Anselm, who used his intellectual gift to bear witness to the truth and defend the faith, we are to continuously use everything we have, to proclaim and make Christ known to others by our way of life.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please give me the grace to bear witness to the truth always, and whenever I face difficulties, help me run to you for grace and strength. Amen.
