Reflections:
In today’s gospel, Jesus, after washing the feet of his disciples, instructs them to follow his footstep of sharing love and service. He informed them that they will not always be welcomed by all, yet they should not give up. In the first reading, St. Paul takes the opportunity given him by the synagogue officials to exhort and teach the people. There are many of us who are unwilling to preach, exhort or correct others. There are Catholics who shy away from sharing their belief, even though our catechism states that, one of our main duties as Christians, is to proclaim our faith courageously. Some eventually regret wasting opportunities to bear witness to Christ. It is also possible that one of our biggest regrets on the last day will be our failure to do and say what we should have done and said. If you have words of exhortation, correction, and teaching to give, please, now is the time.
Prayer: Lord, sometimes I shy away from witnessing to you when I have the opportunity to do so. May I always be open to your spirit of spreading your love and service to those who need them. Amen.
