Recognising what God wants at all times

Acts 13:26-33/ Ps 2:6-7. 8-9. 10-11ab/ Jn 14:1-6

The common theme of today’s two readings is “the failure to recognise.” In his speech at Antioch, St. Paul points out that, the leaders of the Jews failed to recognise the manifestation and fulfillment of God’s promise in Jesus, and this led to their condemning him to death. In the gospel, the apostles struggle to recognise Jesus as the way to the Father, and as God. Today, many are misled, and make wrong decisions because they fail to recognise God at work in their lives, assignments and churches. We have to ask God to give us the grace not to see things only from our human perspective, but as he would want us to. While praying to God when we are confused, afraid or at a cross road, we should not just ask, but listen and pay attention to what he is saying to us in that particular situation. Some of us never create the silent moment and window for God to speak to us while we listen and recognize his will for us.

Prayer: In a world filled with a lot of distractions, give me the grace to pay attention to you Lord, so that I may understand you and recognise your will in all things. Amen.
