An obstacle to evangelization

Acts 13: 44-52/ Ps 98:1. 2-3ab. 3cd-4/ Jn14:7-14

Though God wants all to be saved and come to knowledge of the truth, it is baffling that Christians are not united but often dwell on things that divide us. In the first reading, Paul’s speech attracted a large crowd of people but some Jews prompted by jealousy set themselves out to discredit him. One would have thought that they will be happy that more people were accepting the living God and this may give them the opportunity for salvation, but no!  Yet, the aim of all religions should have been to direct the hearts of humanity back to the living God. This is, however. not the case since some of us who are adherent of religion end up standing in the way of the salvation of others, simply because they do not belong to our faith or share our religious views. For us who are Christians, Jesus is indeed the way to the Father and we should not be an obstacle in the way of others reaching the Father through him.

Prayer: Grant, O Lord, that I may never be an obstacle to evangelization and people’s authentic chance to repentance and salvation. Amen.
