The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection of the dead and so lived their lives with that mind-set. They were the aristocracy of Jerusalem from which the high priestly families were drawn. They were conservative and were not open to the development in the doctrine about spirits and the after-life.  Believers in the resurrection should live lives as people who look forward to the life of the world to come. Our choices, actions and intentions must be in agreement with our belief. We cannot be Christians and live our lives like unbelievers.
