Prepare! For it is an open invitation
Jesus desires to feed us. He wants us to eat his body and drink his blood, and be assimilated into him. Unfortunately, not many of us are available for the banquet for various reasons. For some, it could be certain relationships or habits that have made them avoid this sacred meal since they have resigned that they would still go back to them. For others, it is their unions that have not been solemnized. For a few others, it is because they feel too old to embark on RCIA program. Then, there are those who do not understand the sacrament and so have doubts. With regard to the first category, it is pertinent to note that we all are sinners (Rom 3:23), but must not fall into despair. We have to rise as quickly as we fall (Micah 7:8; Prov 24:16; Ps 37:23-24). There is no greater aid in the spiritual warfare than the Holy Communion. The desire for it alone can sometimes assist us in resisting temptations. As for the other reasons too, the Church already has provisions to facilitate participation for those who desire to honour Jesus’ invitation. They simply need to approach a priest to assist them sought out what is hindering them. No one is excluded from this meal; but you only need to get yourself prepared by meeting up the requirements to be admitted.
PRAYER: Lord, make me have a personal eucharistic encounter. Amen
