There is no one who is incapable of giving or showing goodness. However, people do gracious acts for various reasons. Some do them out of compulsion while others are reluctantly moved to do charity. Some do it for the attention (praise or flattery). There are certain people who do it because they have seen others do so. While it is laudable to celebrate one’s anniversary with the less privileged in the society, pictures of such charitable act are displayed on social media with so much fanfare. One wonders if it was genuinely done for the poor or for personal gratification. There are some persons who expect reward from their acts of goodness. Christ wants us to check our hearts and probe the real motivation for the things we do, be it acts of charity or piety.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, accept the homage of my being. Help me to be selfless like your son, Jesus Christ.
