Jesus’ teaching on what it means to follow him was exact and uncompromising. He laid down some serious demands on discipleship. Firstly, we must be ready to take up our daily crosses and follow him. Life is full of crosses or challenges. The grace of God is always available to help us in such challenging and difficulty situations. Secondly, we must not love our families or any other thing more than God. Though our families are the strongest and most precious relationship that we are born into, there is one relationship that must supersede our relationship with them; it is our relationship with Christ. We are to love Christ supremely, counting him to be worth more than all. Nothing must take the place of God in our lives. We must not allow our families to prevent us from serving God. Remember, following Christ demands total commitment. 

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, today I ask for the grace to help me to carry my own crosses of life, and to love you more than anything and anyone. Amen.
