The disciples of Jesus, in the gospel, experienced a great storm at sea. They were afraid and ran to Jesus saying: “Save us, Lord, we are perishing.” Their faith in Jesus probably moved them to cry out to him but they needed greater faith to stay calm. Life is full of storms but we should not fear them; all we need is greater faith in the midst of the storms. The stronger the storms, the greater should be our faith. Faith is an attitude of trust in the presence of God. Let that attitude in us grow. Faith is the cure for a fearful heart. Jesus expected his disciples not to be afraid because he was with them. But because they were afraid, he asked them: “Why are you afraid? Have you no faith?” The Almighty God is with us always.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I have faith, but I need greater faith in the midst of the storms so that I will cast fear out of my life. Amen.
