15TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - What kind of soil is your heart?

Jesus used the parable of the sower to teach the importance of listening to the word of God and doing what the word says. In his teaching, Jesus sometimes used parables which are earthly stories with heavenly meanings. In the parable of the sower, Jesus used the experience of a farmer planting seeds that some grew and bore fruits to show how Christians respond to the word of God. Jesus mentioned four types of soil on which the seeds were planted. Among these four, only the good soil could bear fruits; some 100, 60 and 30. The seeds represent the word of God while the soil represents different Christians and their hearts. The question is: what soil is your heart? Do you listen to the word of God and do what it says? God wants you to have a good soil, a heart that bears fruits. Fruits are the good works that we do and the good attitudes we exhibit as Christians.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you; may my heart be a good soil, receiving your word and bearing fruit in abundance. Amen.
