“Come to me” is an invitation for “all who labour and are heavy laden”. It also comes with the promise: “I will give you rest”. There are two mistakes we make sometimes in life. The first one is to try to handle our burdens on our own. The second mistake is to think that God is not answering our prayers even when we take our burdens to him. Jesus answers us when we go to him. On some occasions, he takes away our burdens completely, at others he gives us the grace to carry our burdens, and uses them to help us grow stronger in faith. Don’t relent, go to Jesus. He alone can give you rest.

Lord Jesus, today I come to you with my weariness and burdens. I depend only on you. May I find rest in you. Amen.
