Today’s gospel recounts Jesus teaching that the disciples were truly blessed for the things they personally experienced. They were very blessed to hear the good news proclaimed by Jesus and see the miracles that he performed. They were privileged to witness to the fulfilment of the law and the prophet concerning the Messiah. Many who preceded them desired to see and hear those things, but were not able to. As Christians, we too are a blessed people. We have been privileged to hear the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ and know that our Lord bled and died for our sins and rose on the third day. In our world, there may be a majority of the population who will die without ever knowing the truth of God’s love and Jesus’ sacrificial death. We have in our possession, the complete written revelation of God in the Holy Scriptures. At any moment, we can turn to the word of God, read and meditate on God’s truth, and experience his love. We too are blessed.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank you for the opportunity to know you and your word. May your word bear fruits in my life. Amen.
