Today’s gospel shows that the word of God is given for our knowledge and understanding of God and his purpose for our life. In the parable of the Sower, Jesus said: “When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what is sown in his heart” (Matthew 13:19). On the other hand, when a person hears the word of God and understands it, “…he indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.” Note that knowledge and understanding of the word is very important for a better relationship with God and fulfilment of your purpose on earth. Lack of understanding and application of the word gives room to the manipulation of the evil one. We need to develop love for the word of God. 

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, please, give me the passion and appetite to seek and know you more. Give me the diligence to study your word so that you will direct my life and reveal yourself to me. Amen.
