The gospel of today is about the darnels which the enemy sowed among wheat. One of the remarkable things about darnels is that, they look very much like wheat, but they are poisonous to good plant. With this illustration, Jesus explained that there are darnel-like Christians that the devil uses to cause harm to the good people of God. Just like darnels are physically indistinguishable from wheat, these fake Christians act like believers, but they are poisonous to the faith. They rationalize everything and give the impression that Christianity should be practiced in the church, while you enjoy your life in the world. They create the notion that judgment day is far and, God will always forgive, since He is rich in mercy and full of compassion as stated in the first reading of today. Do not listen to these darnel-like Christians, nor allow them to influence you.
Prayers: Lord Jesus, help me to be among the fruitful wheat together with St. Alphonsus Liguori, when the time of the earth’s harvest comes. Amen
