One of the major differences between the ministry of Jesus and the religious practices of his time was his openness to all manner of people. As the saviour of the world, Jesus came to lead everyone back to God, especially those who had strayed the farthest. Thus, the church is a home for all; sinners and saints, rich and poor, Jews and Gentiles, male and female are welcome. However, this acceptance of all does not mean automatic salvation for all. Individuals must work out their salvation. This is what Jesus tried to explain through the parable of the dragnet in the Gospel of today. At the end of time, the angels of God will separate those who merit heaven from the unfaithful who made no effort to be holy. Do not take your Christians faith for granted, try to be among those to be selected for heaven.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me to know that the Church where I belong is a holy ground, so that I may persevere in good works all the days of my life. Amen
