St. Paul warns in the first reading that the coming of the Lord contains within itself an element of surprise - it will “come like a thief in the night”. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. But is this always the case? Does premonition always get us ready and prepared to confront the evil that is about to befall us? Do we always believe our instinct to get prepared for that day? That the day of the Lord is coming is certain. But “when the son of man comes, will he find any faith on earth?” (Lk 18:8).
PRAYER: Lord, may we ever respond positively to our instinct which urges us to take seriously the second coming of Christ. Amen
